Parent Communication, COVID-19, April 9

Dear TFS Community,

As you have probably heard, Gov. Parson has closed all public and charter school buildings for the remainder of the school year.  The TFS community will contribute to the welfare of the community by keeping our building closed and continuing with TFS@Home for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Accordingly, MSHSAA (our state athletic association) has cancelled all events.  We will be working on ways to acknowledge our end-of-the-year traditions in alternate ways. I will follow up next week with more detailed plans.

This is a sad email for me to write; while we knew it was likely, our isolation at home, our loss of personal and physical interaction, and our lack of closure was not final until now.  It's important to name and grieve our losses even while acknowledging how fortunate we all are.  Everyone is handling this season of caution differently, but our students, faculty, and staff have lost a number of traditions, milestones, and beloved experiences.

In addition to the hard work the teachers are doing with your children at home, we will be working to put smiles on our students' faces and create memories that will make good stories to tell throughout their lives.

Warmly,
Kara
