What is Annual Fund?
Annual Fund is a yearly campaign that raises funds to offset The Fulton School at St. Albans’ operating costs. Tuition alone does not cover the entire cost of the school’s comprehensive educational experience. Annual Fund donations allow us to:
  • Attract and retain outstanding faculty and staff.
  • Offer a wide array of classes and extra-curricular activities.
  • Maintain the School’s facilities.
  • Provide tuition assistance.
  • Contain tuition costs 

Below are some examples of how much we spend on items that may not be glamorous, but are absolutely necessary in order to provide the excellent education we offer.  Your Annual Fund dollars help meet these budgeted costs:

Average monthly electric bill -- $4000
A year's worth of supplies for one lower school classroom -- $3000
Art supplies for one year for the art room -- $1250
Cost to rent a bus for a field trip -- $350
A laptop for a teacher -- $350
One-day conference for a faculty member -- $100
A referee for one high school sporting game -- $70
One box of copy paper -- $38
Why Should I give to the Annual Fund?
Your participation in the Annual Fund demonstrates your commitment to the school and sends an important
message. By donating to the Annual Fund, you support our entire community; our teachers, staff, and students. Your gift also ensures that TFS can continue to provide an academically challenging and personally supportive environment in which a diverse student body gains the knowledge and skills to become global citizens with a passion for life and learning.
Where does the money go?
Each year the Board develops and approves the School’s budget. This financial plan focuses on providing the best education possible for our students while maintaining a fiscally sound institution. The School’s largest investment is in our teachers and staff, those individuals who focus their time and effort on the students. The second largest expense is tuition assistance. By offering need-based tuition assistance, we are able to make a Fulton School education accessible to all, creating a student population that is both inclusive and diverse. Annual Fund donations assist in the support of these and other general operating expenses. 

Why not just raise tuition to cover the gap?
Big increases in tuition may cause some families to lose the opportunity of a TFS education. We believe a diverse community creates this unique culture that every student currently enjoys. Additionally, tuition is not tax-deductible, so allowing a portion of the revenue to be donated provides a tax break to families. Lastly, it gives past families and others in the community who value our education a chance to invest in future Fulton School families.

What’s the average gift amount?
Gifts range in size from $25 to more than $20,000. You are encouraged to make a donation that is right for your family. Every gift, of every amount, is important.

Can I make my gift in payments?
Of course. Just email  to make an annual pledge, and we can set up monthly payments.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Absolutely. All gifts to Annual Fund are tax-deductible; Fulton School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Check with your employer to see if your company has a Matching Gift Program.

How do I make a donation?
Make a Pledge (Pay Now or Later in the Year)
