First Release: July 15, 2020   |   Updated August 12, 2020

These are the procedures that will be implemented that directly affect the High Schoolers (9th - 12th grade):

  • High School students are required to wear face masks (shields - only with permission), but teachers will allow for “mask breaks” when the risk is low (i.e. when students are outside, socially distanced, or alone).
  • Several of the High School classrooms have sinks for handwashing. Touchless soap dispensers will be installed in these areas.
  • Touchless hand sanitizers will be implemented in classrooms without sinks.
  • The High School students will use the bathrooms in the Upper School hallway. No more than 2 students are allowed in the bathroom at a time.
  • The High Schoolers will be the only group to have lunch in the Dining Room. Each table will be limited to 4 students. Outside seating will also be available. We will still have Pizza Mondays. Taco Tuesdays will be postponed until further notice.
  • High School teachers will take advantage of outdoor classrooms whenever possible.
  • PE will be held outdoors as much as possible; however, in inclement weather, our gym is acceptable capacity-wise.
  • The High School Commons Room will be closed until further notice.
  • Interims for the 2020-21 school year are still pending.
  • Clubs will likely be high school only.
  • High School will participate in limited electives within their cohorts.
  • Our traditional Morning Meetings for all Upper Schoolers will be altered to reduce the size of the gathering. High Schoolers will have their Morning Meeting (Mondays and Wednesdays) in the Meeting Room.
  • Upper School Advisory Meetings, which will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays, will include high school only.
  • The High School domestic trip planning has been paused. We will reevaluate in the fall.
  • We anticipate having our homecoming events (but perhaps the dance will be without guests). TBD.
  • We will have fall Parent-Teacher Conferences either in person with face masks/shields and/or via Zoom.
  • Arrival and dismissal for High School will be at the Upper Level Main Entrance. Face masks/shields are required when entering and leaving the building.
  • Parents may come to the office if necessary, but in general are not allowed in the rest of the building.
  • Only a limited number of non-essential adults are allowed in the building. Face masks/shields are required for all visitors entering the building.
  • No large group events will be held, such as back-to-school events, etc.
  • We are offering an @Home online learning program for those families who do not feel comfortable with their children returning to the classroom at the start of the school year. Registration is required and involves a commitment for the first quarter (August 26-October 16).
